The Brad Pitt character wasn't even in the book. Ha.

There's no way that would work if that plane was loaded with cargo.

The cargo plane in WWZ wasn't loaded with cargo.

I haven't seen the movie, I was just referring to the movie clip posted above. The C-130 Hercules was designed to operate on short airfields so it's a good plane for such stunts.

I just saw Gravity yesterday. I really liked it, but then, I've always had a girl crush on Sandra Bullock.

Searching for Bobby Fisher
Showed this to the kids the other day. It's been a while for me. An excellent flick, though a bit long like most.

Man of Steel
More for the kids.....I was surprised by this one. Way more interesting than I thought, I actually watched most of it even though I wasn't planning on it. Too long of course, especially the last hour. And the main battle scenes were boring, so was the use of the same small town as Thor. But I was quite impressed that he actually killed the bad guy, I was predicting he wouldn't. A bit gutsy for this kind of popcorn kids movie. Diane Lane was excellent and still totally $%^&*. I did think it was stupid that he didn't go save his Earth Dad, $%^&* that I would have plucked him out, he was old enough to make his own decision on that.

I completely agree. She was so freakin' cute in that movie.

300: Rise of an Empire

Hard to top 300, but I was pleasantly surprised. Very watchable, though the 3D was annoying, this was my first 3D movie in the theaters and I think I will avoid them from now on. I thoroughly enjoyed Eva Green's character and still can't believe that she had the primary nude scene in the movie, kudos to her.

My biggest gripe was in the filming and execution of the fight scenes. They did the usual close-up and fast action style. It is supposed to make you feel like you are in the middle of it, but what it really does is allow the actors to train less and use more cuts and takes. 300 had some great zoomed-out fight scenes where they actually slowed things down. You really need to train for that.

Ender's Game
Saw parts of this while my kids had it on. I guess it's ok as a movie. I really disliked the end, however. I know it's based on the book, so I suppose there's nothing they could really do about it. But sorry, those aliens attacked us first and were going to wipe us out. So the morality play just doesn't do it for me.

Machete Kills
Surprisingly funny, given that it's #2. Chock full of hot latinas, too. My complaint, and it's a big one, is that it has ZERO gratuitous nudity. I couldn't believe it, given what this film is trying to be. I don't see how you can purport to make a grindhouse/exploitation flick and not throw in even a pair of boobs. I am not going to purchase it unless they release an unrated version that has nudity and is true to the genre.

I enjoyed Ender's Game. I thought the ending was very thoughtful of the kid. those aliens may have initially attacked but they never returned. that was the premise of the kid and thought there could be peace. think of the aliens as another country. should we attack Germany again since they attacked all of Europe?

Really looking forward to Captain America: Winter Soldier. Going to see it soon as possible to avoid any further spoilers, which has been hard to avoid.

Raid 2 is also supposed to be a great action movie.

Happened to see Hangover 3 the other day. You know I had heard it was bad, but my God, how could you possible make an entire movie without one laugh? Acting was phoned in and horrible as well.

Rush
Caught this on DVD. Not sure how it ended up in my queue, I must have read about it somewhere. It's about a Formula 1 racing rivalry in the 70s. Looking at the description, I hesitated to even start it. I figured I'd be bored. But it actually hooked me in the first 10 minutes, and not just because there's a hot chick's butt in it (though that didn't hurt). It's too long like most movies, but it was still engaging well done. I found out at the end credits that it was directed by Ron Howard.

Battlestar Galactica: Chrome and Blood
This came out on DVD recently too, I think it was originally shown on the internet as a series of 10 min episodes. This was pretty good, some more interesting back story. This is such a good series overall (except for the season when they settle on that planet), it is hard to believe it originated from such a cheesy original.

Raid
This is the first one, not Raid 2. A very impressive action movie. Started slow, but then....holy $%^&*. With the exception of the main actor, these guys are martial arts first, actors second. Even the main guy clearly has serious martial arts training aside from the movie. Several very intense, and long, action scenes. Impressive fight choreography, only minimal zooming. I am going to buy this one.

Wolf of Wall Street
Too long but worth seeing. Drugs, sex, nudity and money.....hard to believe such a movie was made with the PC trend of no nudity. I guess it had to do with Scorcese. An indictment of the financial industry but only of the lower aspects of it, it doesn't touch the real problem we have with the "high end" crap that has been going on with all the big investment bank firms.
