They may allow it, but the airlines are likely to stick to their guns about not allowing it.

Airlines have blocked Skype and other similar apps from being used on the inflight WiFi and I don't see that changing anytime soon. Airlines don't get much in the way of revenue from the inflight WiFi and in the case of the airlines using Gogo, they have no say in the pricing of the service. Airlines are still trying to figure out how to monetize the inflight WiFi and more and more of them are creating portals in which people can access the airlines' website and a select number of websites for free. Some have even tested on demand movies and TV shows that are streamed through said portal.

I can see some airlines allowing it, and then charging a fee to sit in a cell phone free section of the plane.
