Sunday Aug 12

Sundays have become Margaritaville day due to the high cost of buffets. We also have a coupon for both the gift shop and a line pass courtesy of Vegas4locals through Vegas for Beginners and Ashley. So we take a cab from Mirage to Flamingo to Margaritaville and walk through the new Margaritaville casino to get there. We don't need the line pass as there is no line. Food is excellent as always.

Walk through the gift shop, but do not buy. We also play in the Margaritaville casino. As I am almost out of money on my machine (some kind of whit tiger on it - Siberian Tiger?), I hit the bonus and take a small profit out of it.

Sharon is thinking about walking over to Aria, so we walk through Flamingo, then Bills. Cross the street, past Ballys and into Paris. About this time, she's dying from the heat. We cab it to Aria from Paris.

Did I mention that its HOT, HOT, HOT in Vegas in August?

This is our first time in Aria. The casino seems dark to me. First stop is in the cafe where we get drinks and what the server said was a "berry" pie ala mode. Turns out it is actually peach with a couple of red raspberries on it. I liked it, but Sharon doesn't like peaches. She did eat the ice cream and crust. After wandering around a bit and playing a little, we cab back to Mirage. We are tired and Cosmo will have to wait for another day.

I take about an hour nap while Sharon is checking her Facebook. I get up and she is napping on the couch. I stay quiet and let her sleep while I go downstairs and play. Not much luck. Most machines are eating my money. I get a lot of play on the $.25 VP progressive near Carnegi Deli. Eventually that goes away too. I move over to penny WOF on the next bank play for a long time and cash out. Sharon joins me at this time and we go to CPK for supper. I have salad and pizza. The first pizza since I came down with a medical condition over two months ago when I changed my lifestyle - not diet. Diet is Die with a "t". It tasted really good.

We played some VP and ghostbusters and called it a night.

The waiter at Margaritaville says after the buffet concert later in the year (Nov timeframe) they are going to do a major remodeling of the place.

If you think Aria is dark now, you should have seen it when it opened!!! They brightened it up quite a bit.......

Aria is a bit of a punching bag for folks, but I enjoy the place. Lots of good stuff to take pics of, decent rog-compliance (though pre-dinner is still tough), and they have really stepped it up on the service. The folks there all really make an effort to make you feel appreciated and welcome.

I am sure it will be part of "the Linq" construction, since it is at the entry to the area.

They are supposed to move the dining /casino further to the strip. (not much room?) and add room on the upper floors.

It opened in 2003, 9 years is an eternity in the restaurant industry, even more so in Vegas with the big crowds 7 days a week. We refresh/remodel our places every 5-7 years.

I think you might be confusing the casino part of Margaritaville with the rest of the place. The restaurant side has been open for a number of years.

You're thinking of the casino, not the restaurant.
