too funny. I just picked one up 2 days ago. sams club had an open box And the guy said "I'll sell it to you for $140". I said sold. They had two but I only took one. I too got it for the 20x lens. The image is a bit noisey for low light shots, but very acceptable.
Have you looked at Fuji x100s? Reviews have been very positive but has a fixed focal point lens. A bit pricey.

I looked at the x100 but it couldn't take me away from my Sonys, don't recall why. Maybe a flippable screen? That makes a big difference for me, more than it would for most.

You got a great deal on that WX300!!!

I read Olympus will fold this year. Camera companies or divisions are hurting. Especially in the point and shoot sales. Phones do a good enough job these days to satisfy the average picture taker.

Is that why canon came out with a flip screen, for their P&S... To help with sales?

I've been using one of my MBAs primarily as a Win7 machine, but I have decided to go back and use it primarily with OSX. Win7 looks great on it, but the battery life sucks and wifi is not as good either. I don't know if this is intentional or just indifference....

The battery life difference is dramatic and has been reported online. Not sure about the wifi.

Odd AT&T loophole:

I have a shared plan with a main phone and then additional lines for $10 each. They told me I could upgrade on any of the lines and use the phone on a different line. So even though my 4s is not eligible for upgrade on my main line, I upgraded on another line, got a 5s, then transferred it to my main line. Of course it adds a 2yr commitment, but that's for $10/mo........

I guess technically I could even just add a 5s to another couple lines, and just sell the 5s phones. No additional cost to me as long as I stay with AT&T for a couple years.

Rog, have you found WX300 screen to be overly bright (in playback mode) compared to the actual image?

Has anyone tried out Google's Chromecast? For $35 it seems like a pretty good deal. I'm looking at it or Roku's streaming stick (Both plug into the HDMI port on your TV, but Chromecast can be used to mirror your tablet or your computer, turning your TV into a big monitor.).

I have Chromecase but haven't had a chance to try it out yet. I don't like that it needs separate power, I might as well just get something more powerful. I am hoping the Fire TV has native usb host support (not just a dead port like Apple TV). That's what I need that Roku, Apple TV and Chromecast don't have. The Roku box does have it, but its codec support is so limited that it doesn't matter.

No native usb for the Fire TV....hopefully that will change. Otherwise there's not a meaningful difference between it and the Apple TV as far as I am concerned.

I recently bought a Nokia 520 as a general backup phone since you can have additional lines for $10 on AT&T. I wanted something with a hotspot. I have been very impressed with it, it must be incredibly subsidized to sell for $60 with no contract or commitments. It is a full featured smartphone with Windows Phone. Texting, hotspot, good screen and even some apps, though Windows has a long way to go on that.

I ended up buying Chromecast the other day (Best Buy had them for $30.) and so far, I really like it. I just wish there were more apps that supported it. I've found a workaround to be able to use Spotify, but it's not ideal (Spotify has pretty much said they'll get around to supporting Chromecast but have some "higher priority" things in front of it.). It streams Netflix absolutely smoothly, unlike my Blu-Ray player. The ability to cast using Chrome on mobile devices is currently in beta.

I just bought one to use in Spain with my Vodafone.es sim. It should work well for what we want.
