I picked this up after seeing a lot of good reviews. I am just starting to play with it, but boy am I already impressed. My NEX with pancake lens was already small compared to most DSLRs, but the RX is just in a whole different category. It's basically the size of a point and shoot.

The sensor is a lot bigger than a regular point/shoot, but significantly smaller than my NEX. So I'll have to see how the pics turn out. But the size, RAW capability, and modest zoom (I get no zoom on my NEX to keep it compact) make it an incredibly compelling camera for me. Coupled with the 20x ZS20 I picked up recently, I could potentially be walking around with my usual high quality+high zoom combo, with a hell of a lot less weight and bulk. I just need to see if the ZS20 gets me the zoom I need for my Tix4tonite pics. I'll miss the tilting screen I currently get on both my cameras, but the loss of bulk will be worth the trade off.

An unexpected bonus on the RX was flash recycle. I've never seen a camera this small have a flash recycle this fast, and it just keeps going. I did 10 shots in a row without a problem. The flash seems better than on my NEX.

Of course with a Sony a downside is price. I think I paid about the same for my NEX, which is still a better camera overall. But at least right now, the RX is unique, which does justify a price premium.

yea I saw the RX100. I was impressed with the sensor size for the size of the camera. I bet the noise is very low in the image.
I wonder what Canon will do.

Interestingly my ZS20 has lower pic quality ratings than the ZS15. But I still got the ZS20 because I figured I would appreciate the 1080p video and 20x more than the higher pic quality and 16x.

On the RX100, I really do miss the flip out screen, but the convenience is fantastic. I haven't processed any pics yet though, so I still need to judge that before I decide which one to take on my next trip.

I think it would be neat for stealth purposes, that way you're not obviously aiming your phone. But I am not going to get the expensive one, since it cannot take in RAW.

It is a zoom lens and lacks a viewfinder so you need your phone to see what you're photographing. Plus seems hard to get a level shot -- since the lens/camera is round.
Alora, what are your thoughts?
I think the it will never 'take-off' as hot seller. Seems only good for stealth/ hidden camera type picture taking.

Well, I didn't see this coming. I never dreamed they would remove the box. Interesting. I picture myself looking very strangely while shooting with it. The one advantage I see is being able to hold it up over your head, like the guy is doing, in certain situations. Being short, I can't tell you how many times I just hold my camera as high as I can and push the button, hoping I get a good shot. The fact that you can move it around on to a smaller camera is kind of cool. I don't know, if I had money to burn, I would definitely buy one and play around with it, see what the pictures look like. The proof is in the pudding.

I can't TELL you how many times I have wished I had glasses with a built in camera. There's a spy store up by my mall...I should go and just see how much they are, LOL
