My iPad 2 has decided to stop charging. I have a spare cable, but it is at home and I'm in Spain, so I can't check if its a faulty connection until the stores open again tomorrow. it won't shut down even though it has no charge and keeps restarting and then switching off over and over.
Any suggestions?

Try a hard restart. Forgot which buttons, maybe the power and home at the same time for a few seconds.
Do you sync to a computer or just icoud?

holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)

Already done that a few times. no change.
Will it make a difference where I'm charging from? Currently using the provided usb to mains plug. Shall I try it via usb on the computer?

Also, I did the reset with it connected. Can't see if it works when disconnected since the battery is almost dead. Shall I try it?

let it die and then letit sit for a few minutes and then start recharging. doing a google search seems to indicate only apple can resolve this problem. https://discussions.apple.com/message/23166501

Evan, it is dead. when i realized it wasn't charging, i disconnected it for at least an hour while I researched it on the internet.
Computer didn't detect the iPad. probably because of the dead battery. Tried the reset disconnected too, nothing.
I'm guessing a new battery is on the cards. It's 2 in October, thought it might last a bit longer.

you can't replace a battery in that. it is not a single battery in one spot. people say if it keeps restarting.. it is bad news. not a charging/ battery issue. I feel for you. It should last longer than that.

Well, I left it for a couple of days then reconnected the charger. It charged up and seems to be holding its charge well enough for now.
No idea what happened.
