Odd how they make no mention of the change of policy on resort fees and how it could boost their bottom line in a couple of quarters.

Well other than a couple of Las Vegas blogs, there has been no official press release, so they might not know.

I still find it funny that a casino company is losing money so badly!

If MGM can change their fortunes (2013 Q1 profit of $6.5 million after posting a 2012 Q1 loss of $217.3 million.), hopefully Caesars can in the near future as well. It will probably be another quarter or two before we really start seeing the effects of the new resort fees at the various Caesars properties.

I think Caesars is in more trouble and it might take them a while longer. They bought more then they should of, but I could be wrong!

CityCenter came pretty close to putting MGM into bankruptcy and had Dubai World not invested in the project (which they took quite a hit on as well), MGM's portfolio in Vegas might be significantly smaller.

Caesars is in really bad shape because of the amount of debt they took on in all of their acquisitions during good times. They've got a lot of land that they bought that will remain undeveloped for who knows how long because the economy (plus their own $$$ issues) derailed their original plans for the area from Harrah's to the former Bill's (Interestingly enough, when Harrah's did the horse trading in which they swapped the former Westward Ho site for Barbary Coast, thoughts then were that they were going to either turn it into a boutique hotel or tear it down to expand the Flamingo.). They racked up some debt in those land deals as they overpaid for many of those parcels and they have lost value plus do not generate revenue for them. Caesars may have no other choice but to go into bankruptcy in order to get their debt issues settled (Station Casinos is good example of this, as their aggressive expansion eventually led to their bankruptcy and divestiture of some assets as part of that reorganization.).

I guess those resorts fees that everyone was demanding has really worked out for them....... :rolling:

If Caesars hasn't filed for bankruptcy by this time next year, I'll be surprised. Even with the spinning off of some assets (which they will retain a majority stake in), that's not going to fully address their debt issues. Selling off assets won't address it either, so they have little choice but to file Chapter 11 in order to right the ship. They may have to cut loose a few properties to creditors (similar to what Stations did), but that may be for the best.
