One solution would be to prohibit the portable amplifiers/sound systems. That would limit the size of the audience that stops and watches the entertainer.

The weirdness of the Strip is what makes it cool — leave it be

I don't want it weird, I want it clean and wide enough for people to walk on without having accidents with other tourists. Whatever, Dude.

I agree with Alora. It can be busy enough without "attractions" adding extra sidewalk blockages.

Change in law would end peddling along Strip’s sidewalks

What if they put all the porn slappers at one end of the strip to wave their little papers at people?....if you want one, you know where you need to go.

There's some empty lots on the north and south ends of the Strip that would be ideal for that.....

I'm a big advocate of free speech, but I just can't fit the 'entertainers' under that heading. At it's basis it's pure solicitation, not their right for expression. The Porn slappers I get and have always just ignored, I have to say I've always been surprised that people got so bent out of shape over them.

After my recent trip, I wish that they really could clean up the Strip. Between the porn slappers, the water sellers, folks selling stuff on the overpasses (although the guys selling umbrellas for $5 a pop were doing a brisk business Wednesday and Thursday), the panhandlers, the musicians trying to hand you their CD (Which I don't fully get seeing as most folks typically don't bring a portable CD player with them these days.), the club pass hawkers, the costumed characters, the strip club hustlers, the folks "collecting for the homeless", and the three card monte guys (I saw one guy with it that had a sign calling it a "magic trick".), it's made the Strip into a mess. I can deal with the street musicians, as they really don't bother me.

It's like walking a gauntlet when you venture between Ballys and Planet Hollywood and from Bellagio to Mirage (One of the good things of the Linq construction is that you don't have to deal with these annoyances pretty much from Bill's to Harrah's.). One plus about the rains on Wednesday and Thursday of last week was that it cut down on the porn slappers, costumed characters, hawkers, and the like for most of those days.

I remember a time when downtown was scary and the strip was free of harassment. It seems to have reversed since then. Downtown does have the costumed folks, but that's about it. The "safe zone" is bigger than it used to be as well.

I just want all performers to go away. I remember when, during the day, it was nice to hang out in front of Bellagio. Now, it's small masses of people around performers, which, in my opinion, aren't doing anything major or interesting anyway.

Also, Bridgette is terrified of people in costume (don't ask me why, I don't know) and it's a nightmare to walk down the strip with her. She has sharp nails and she grabs my arm and digs them into me. :icon_eek:

I am really tired of the vagrants. Austin is the homeless capital of the nation and I would sure like to get away from that a little when on vacation.
I am also amazed the City does not use undercover officers to break up the three card monty scams. I am seeing it everywhere.

I don't have issues with the costumed characters is there is some relevance to Vegas in their costume (Like Elvis, a Vegas Showgirl, members of the Rat Pack, and maybe Capt. Jack Sparrow if he stays in front of Treasure Island and Mirage.). On Friday afternoon, I passed by TWO sets of Mickey & Minnie Mouse in front of the Forum Shops. On Saturday, there were two guys dressed up as the same Transformer robot across the street from one another. These have NOTHING to do with Vegas and are a nuisance. Even worse is that the bulk of these folks are wearing obvious knockoff costumes made in an Asian sweatshop by a 12 year old.....

I just stay away from the Strip now, unless I side door the Bellagio or Wynn from the valet or parking garage.

Even though it is somewhat inconvenient we now sometimes use the monorail to avoid walking the strip.
