anyone know what is happening around the 21st -24th Oct ...have a pretty good deal at the MGM but keep an eye on things, rates have gone really high and it's included in some black out dates....I know from experience it's early days but just curious....
Only thing I can find is the national rodeo finals,is that such a big deal that it was effect he dates that much ??? Or just Casinos playing games with early bookers !!!

Yup, NRF brings lots of people. They hold a certain amount of rooms for them. Reducing available rooms, thus driving up prices. Once the room holds drop off the rates should drop.
Do you know if there are any headliners coming to MGM around those dates? That could cause a jump.

Your players card should get you a decent rate.

NFR isn't until December.

The Life Is Beautiful Festival will be going on Downtown 10/24-10/26 and that will likely have an effect on room rates even on the Strip (Some of the hotels Downtown are sold out for that weekend already.). There are also two decent sized conventions at the Las Vegas Convention Center during that time, one with about 15,000 people and another with about 23,000 people.

Good luck mate. The NBA is at MGM that weekend. And the LA Lakers is one of the teams. The last time a major pro basketball event was held there, there were brawls, thefts and near riot conditions. I'd stay at Wynn if I were you folks.

I understand Jeff and agree wirh you. In fact your wife's comfort and well being did enter my mind. You may find a deal through MGM for the Mirage. It's always a nice place to stay.

The event that Evan was thinking of was the Professional Bull Riders Championship.

I was just replying to the OP about him only seeing the national rodeo finals (NRF) during that time period. I just assumed it was, but it seems it is not during that time period... NBA is the likely cause of the room hike (per histo's post)

I just looked at flights for me :twitch: OUCH :loco: NOTHING under $445 round trip for the rest of the year. Ka-ching. I'll have to look at departing from a different airport if I want to go.

Just to clarify, the NRF and PBR are separate events. Two different organizatons. And as Pebs indicates, the Pro Bull riders will be in town. It's always late October early November and the home hotel is Mandalay Bay.

That's probably what I read...to be honest I've never heard of either of these events before so that's maybe where the confusion happened..

Tom I did some research on this Basketball game...seems this friendly has been in Vegas at least a couple of years and I couldn't find any problems associated with it....however the All star weekend I did and I understand where u was coming from....I spoke to my mate who's coming and he says he has read that basketball now attracts a pretty middle class following to games (probably because of costs) .....
Maybe I'm wrong but I'm thinking there won't be any problems with the game being at MGM ???

I'd say go for it then, Jeff, if the deal at MGM is a good one. You can't argue with the personal experience your friend is able to impart. I should be around out there at that point. We'll raise a pint or two. Looking forward to it.
