Has anyone used MyVegas points from Facebook? I'm hoping to in March, but I'm curious if anyone knows whether there are restrictions or not, how far in advance you have to reserve a room to use them, and whether you can use more that one room credit in a stay. By the time march rolls around I should have enough for two two-night vouchers, and I'd like to use them back to back.

Anyone?

You can't use two of the same rewards in one stay. Restrictions, as in what level you need to be at are shown if you click on the reward you're interested in. If it doesn't give a level, then there is no restriction. Unlike food rewards which require a voucher from the players' club to present to the restaurant on arrival, room discounts can be applied over the phone the day you purchase (not more than 90 days before you are checking in) with the reservation desks.

For the more popular rewards, like most of the buffets (Excalibur's doesn't seem to be much in demand), you have to jump on them in the morning as soon as they make the few each day available. For me on the east coast, that's been shortly after 10AM.

I can't believe people would burn up a gazillion points just to select a song to play at the fountains. But they do. Hmmmmm, I wonder if the could coordinate the water to 'My Sharona'.

Hmmm, so you think I could use two days at Aria and two days at NYNY?

Thanks for the data Histo. I know it gives you some rules on the website, but what is printed doesn't always match peoples personal experience. ;)

That would work fine.We are considering it for the fall.
We only have experience with food credits. Total credit last trip was around $1200 between the two of us. You need to get your wife to play too.

Sure, except I'm 99% sure she will not be coming with me in March. Since I'm going for the purpose of attending the NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, I'm pretty sure she'd rather staple-gun her eyelids to a moving bus than go with me.

Well, she could play to add stuff for your next trip together. I'm sure there will be one of those.

I don't know about that either. Her attitude was mixed after our last trip. If she did agree to come again, she says she wants to stay downtown. She did NOT like the ludicrous prices of everything on the strip. She's the more money conscious one in our family and while I tease her about it, I give her full credit for our financial stability. She's definitely the brains of this operation...

That's fine really, I've been itching to do a completely solo trip anyway. ;)

The strip prices aren't so bad when you consider how cheap the hotel rooms are, in comparison to any big city. I'm actually surprised she had that reaction given that the economy hasn't fully bounced back, so most places have happy hours or other specials throughout the day and evening. The 2-1 deal at the bar at Paris is a good example.

We got a few of those deals, but our first drink was at the Todd English Pub where even the happy hour prices were twice what we pay at home. She was WAY more comfortable downtown at the ElCo, The D, or Four Queens where we were getting drinks comped at the bar with minimal play at VP while we BS'd with our friends. Not to mention Fremont was hopping that night and was more of a booze infused party than a gambling destination. (She's not much of a gambler.)

As for me, I can gamble for hours at the ElCo, eat downtown, and spend HALF of what I do on the strip. Some people may not need to seek such value, but I can't really afford to bankroll gambling on the strip. Besides, I just find downtown more alive and less pretentious.

Yeah if you're comparing to DT, there's no comparison. But DT probably beats out even most local places where people drink/eat at home. That's certainly true here.

What about the strip did you find pretentious? People are walking around wearing whatever they want, with strollers, big frozen-booze filled guitars, etc. Even the majority of "fine dining" places don't enforce any dress codes. I wear jeans where ever I go and never have any issues, direct or indirect.

I do see a lot of relaxed people on the strip, but there are also a fair number of douchebags and hipsters around that seem to think I care what designer clothes they're wearing or how expensive their watch is. While I can and do ignore these people, I'd rather not have to.

I'm just happier downtown where that just isn't an issue at all. It's my comfort zone.

Ok, I guess I was just reacting to the word "pretentious." To me that implies some sort of snobbishness. The douchebags are douchebags, but I have never had any snobbish issues with them. I don't really see what how they could be snobs to me even if they wanted to. I actually enjoy making fun of them, and of course I love to watch the hot chicks that are part of that same crowd.

Too bad you ended up at Todd English Pub. I can't recall anything I liked about the place.

We redeemed MyVegas points for two tickets to Love and two passes to the Secret Garden over Memorial Day. Our seats were very good and there were no problems with redemption.

As a follow-up most rewards are limited to a 90 days to use restriction. Awards reset at 7:00 am Vegas time (9:00 am for us in Central time zone) and some of the popular rewards go fast. I have noticed that a lot of rewards have basically converted to a single ticket (or BOGO for most of us) or are very expensive to redeem for 2 tickets. For example the 2 Love tickets I redeemed for 80,000+ points now take 200,000+ points. Rooms still appear to be a good value. You can redeem up to three awards at a time, but individual awards may be limited to one redemption at a time (hence the BOGO for two persons). I understand they will let you buy a seat next to the free seat you redeem if you ask when calling to redeem.

I think most people have one or two games they prefer. For me it's the original Excalibur. I'm just about at the point where I can purchase the three I want at around 150, 000 points. They include 25% off our room which will bring us down to $34 a night (plus $25 resort fee which at the Mirage includes in room Wifi), the dinner for two at Tender and a $50 dining credit at any Monte Carlo eatery. The dining deals include alcohol so an afternoon of sharing a steak nachos and sipping margs at Diablos looks promising. That's a savings of about $150 out of pocket expense for our four days. I have about two weeks before I hit 90 days out and begin the 10AM bids. And for the record I have not spent a single penny purchasing additional chips which they promote you do. I'm content using only those they provide gratis each day.

Historian. I will be curious to see how things go for you. I'm the eternal skeptic and have also been playing with the free chips. I've only been playing a week and am at level 30 and I have nearly 11k loyalty points.

Did you enter a credit card at any time? I'm wondering if you will need to eventually give them credit card info to redeem.

I play blackjack to earn chips and put the slot games on autoplay to earn points. I usually have over 1,000,000 chips and have not paid one cent for any of them. The secret to the blackjack game is that it runs in streaks. Bet low when losing and high when winning. The streaks can last for more than a day.

I play whichever game has 2x points that weekend. I gather chips all week and let it spin on weekends.

I tend to like the original Excalibur as well or the Luxor one. I can just let it spin while I do other things...

Never entered a credit card. Currently at 133K points. And I've used rewards in April with no issues. I'm at level 83 currently. No fear Snotick.
